Nichols Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Season With NCAA Second Round Defeat

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Nichols College men's tennis team saw their season come to an end with a 5-0 loss at the hands of No. 8-ranked Amherst College on Saturday afternoon in an NCAA Tournament Second Round matchup at the Bennington Tennis Center in Williamstown, Mass.
The Bison wrap up their season at 20-4 overall, while Amherst improves to 12-6 and advances to the Regional Final where they will take on the host No. 4 Williams College on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
"Very happy with how we competed today," said head coach Paul Brower. "We brought great energy top to bottom and fought for everything. Out doubles was strong and we certainly made them earn their money in singles."

Junior Zach Bessette (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore Jayson Fung (San Francisco, Calif.) followed with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles over junior Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) and freshman August Moeller (Hellerup, Denmark), while sophomores Guilherme Barbosa (Bradenton, Fla.) and Peter Coletti (Beverley, Mass.) dropped a hard-fought 8-5 decision to junior John Heidenberg (Tampa, Fla.) and first-year Kevin Ma (San Ramon, Calif.).
In singles play, Ma pushed the Amherst lead to 4-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Wei defeated Howard, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Norton and Bessette's match at No. 3 singles went unfinished with Bessette in front, 7-5, 1-1.
